Acquired Brain Injury

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) refers to brain conditions that a person was not born with. ABI could be due to:
  • Trauma (Traumatic Brain Injury)
  • Stroke
  • Alcohol and other drugs (Substance-Related Brain Injury)
  • Multiple Sclerosis and other Neurodegenerative Diseases
  • Lack of Oxygen supply to the brain (Hypoxic Brain Injury)

Although Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADHD) is a disorder that is usually first diagnosed in and associated with childhood, approximately two thirds of those that meet criteria for the condition in childhood continue to experience symptoms into adulthood.
