Prof Arthur Shores
Professor Arthur Shores commenced his career as a Clinical Neuropsychologist at Westmead Hospital. He was later Director of the Postgraduate Neuropsychology Program at Macquarie University, where he is now an Adjunct Professor. Prior to his retirement from clinical/medico-legal practice, he was Director of a Medicolegal Neuropsychology Consultancy and was also an approved Medical Assessor for MAA/SIRA. He was made a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society in 2006 and received the Award of Distinction from the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists in 2007.
He was the senior developer of the Westmead PTA Scale and the Abbreviated Westmead PTA Scale for use in hospitals and emergency departments, respectively. His research on brain injury and assessment has been cited over 5,000 times in the scientific literature.
He continues to have a keen interest in research supervision, journal peer review, complex case formulation and mentoring early-career clinicians in critical thinking and evidence-based practice. He is on the Editorial Boards of the journal Applied Neuropsychology: Adult, and the journal Frontiers in Neurology: Neurotrauma.
