The YABI Group is a way for young adults (aged 18 to 35) to connect and share their experiences of living with a brain injury. It is a group for and by the participants. ANTS simply hosts and facilitates group activities.
The YABI Group provides a welcoming, safe and engaging environment for young adults that enables them to support each other through the challenging and sometimes isolating recovery process following a brain injury.
The YABI Group is a monthly meeting that involves a combination of hands-on activities, collective discussions, and group outings. It is held at a different venue (e.g., parks, cinemas, cafes) each month.
YABI Group meetings take place on the first Friday of every month from 4.00 to 5.30 pm. Each meeting is planned around an activity that is guided by recent attendees’ interests or recommendations (e.g. board games, arts and crafts, attending a movie, etc.) and are held at various locations across Sydney.
Anyone with an acquired brain injury who is aged between 18 and 35 years. The group caters to participants of all abilities and stages of their brain injury recovery journey. We welcome attendees to participate individually, or with the aid of a family member or support person.
ANTS hosts the YABI group free of cost. However, there may be costs associated with venue attendance at any given YABI Group meeting (e.g., cinema, cafe, etc).
